Flowgrout SF - Epoxy Grout
Vendor: Virtus Resins
Flowgrout SF is a specially designed thixotropic seal coat and grout for highly filled epoxy resin screed systems. It is used to grout the upper surface of these systems to provide a non-porous surface layer which can be finished with an appropriate wearing coat.
Surface Preparation
Inadequate preparation will lead to loss of adhesion and failure. Grinding, light vacuum-contained shot-blasting or planing is recommended.
Coverage
Approximately 0.25kg per sqm for the 1st coat and 0.15kg per sqm for the 2nd coat.
Drying Time
At 20 degrees, curing time for foot traffic is 24 hours and for heavy traffic is 48 hours.
Thickness
Typically 200 - 300 µm. Most of the grout is forced into the pores of the underlying screed leaving very little on the surface.
Primer
No primer required.
Application Conditions:
Ideal ambient and substrate temperature range is 15 - 25 ºC. Localised heating (electric powered warm air blower) or cooling equipment may be required outside this range to achieve ideal temperature conditions. The substrate and uncured floor must be kept at least 3 ºC above the dew point to reduce the risk of condensation or blooming on the surface, from before priming to at least 48 hours after application.
Mixing:
Prior to mixing, the temperature of the three components must be between 15 and 25 ºC. Pre-mix the coloured resin component before use. Add the hardener component to the coloured resin component and mix using a low speed electric mixer (300 - 400 rpm) for 1 - 2 minutes until homogeneous. Care should be taken to ensure that any material adhering to the sides and bottom of the mixing vessel is thoroughly mixed in.
Application:
Apply Flowgrout SF using a dense polypropylene squeegee to force the seal into the surface and to grout any open areas. Scrape off any excess to leave the surface with an thin, even film. Finish by back rolling with a semi-dry roller. If, when cured, there are un-filled patches, conduct a further application. Flowgrout SF should be applied to the cured resin screed within 24 hours of application. Failure to do so may result in de-bonding. Flowgrout SF should be over-coated with the chosen finish coat within 24 hours for the same reasons.
